It’s taken from (RED) Hot + FELA collaboration (Red Hot are the folks behind Dark Was The Night - probably the greatest compilation ever made). Working woman jam of the day

Official music video for Dr. John’s “Revolution”; his awesome collaboration with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. This was filmed during their performance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music last month, which I was lucky enough to attend!

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.] Antibalas, Sare Kon Kon (redux) 2,821 plays

12-piece Afrobeat band Antibalas hail from Brooklyn, and are signed to Daptone Records, along with local superstars like Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. The band is prepping for their first album release in five years, and they’ve given us a taste of what’s to come with this new tune “Sare Kon Kon (redux)”. Get prepared to get the f up and dance.

“Whatever you do, don’t funk with my groove”

Here’s the official video for THEESatisfaction’s tune “Queens”. These ladies are awesome.

Amadou and Mariam are an awesome (and blind!) musical duo from Mali, who I’ve enthusiastically posted about earlier. What began as a traditional blues group has now become a blend of contemporary pop, African folk, blues, roots and funk. Here thet perform a stripped-down version of their song “Oh Amadou”. They’ve recorded songs with TV on the Radio, Santigold and Theopholis London, and have a new album out called Folia which drops tomorrow. These guys are the real deal.

The soulful, funky Alabama Shakes sure let it rip during their showcase at SXSW (you can stream their entire 50 minute set here). The Shakes’ full-length debut Girls & Boys is out April 10th, but you can stream it here now, and you won’t be sorry.

Youtube Gold: In honor of Eric Clapton’s 67th birthday, here is one of my favorite Youtube  videos in existance: Delaney & Bonnie performing “Poor Elijah” with Eric Clapton, Bobby Whitlock (from Derek & the Dominos) and Dave Mason (from Traffic). Absolutely outstanding.

I have been really digging the tropical sounds of Amadou & Mariam, a musical duo from Mali, and now they’ve stepped it up to a whole new level, inviting TV on the Radio’s Kyp and Tunde to feature on their song “Wily Kataso” off their upcoming album Folila. Folila drops April 10.

Dan Auerbach/Dr. John

On April 5th (my birthday!) New Orleans legend Dr. John and Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys will be playing together at BAM. Just found out my super-rad bf got us tickets, so I’ll be there! Dan and The Night Tripper be performing tracks from their upcoming album Locked Down, which is out April 3rd, and if the show is anything like the setlist Dan is holding, it’s going to be awesome. As a taste of what’s to come: check out the duo’s first single “Revolution” over at Rolling Stone.
