12x12 is an incredibly cool project of 12 local NYC designers creating furniture out of reclaimed lumber from 12 demolished NYC buildings. At their recent show at the 2012 Wanted Design event, they exhibited a chair made from an old Brooklyn water tower, as well as a table made from the Coney Island boardwalk (shown above). Each of these unique pieces will be auctioned off to support Brooklyn Woods, a woodshop training and education center.
New York Mouth is the latest thing I’ve found that I wish I hadn’t found. Based in Brooklyn, this is like food nerd/design nerd heaven. These guys curate an incredible selection of locally sourced delicious food, and then organize it for you for the most amazing, mouth-watering care packages and gifts ever. Most of their products are from smaller local companies, helping artisanal businesses to grow. Don’t spend too long on their page, you will absolutely start drooling.

The newly released ThinBike from LifeEdited is a modified fixed gear bike with a super-adjustable stem and fold-up pedals, seriously reducing the bike’s width to a mere 6 inches. Ideal for city dwellers who are hard-pressed for space (and are ok with an all-white ride…no thanks). The space saving stem and pedals can also be added to your current ride for about $200.
