These paintings by Holton Rower are created by pouring paint onto plywood, which sounds simple, but produces some pretty amazing results. His works are currently on display at The Hole on Bowery through the end of May, and I plan on stopping by as soon as I can to check them out.

Chinese artist Lu Xinjian has started a new series called “City DNA” in which he uses arial maps of cities to create stenciling patterns which he then paints. These geometric abstract works are painted in colors reflecting the area’s flag, and named for the city they represent (shown is LA). See the entire project here.
This mural by by Will Barras, Angry Woebots, Mr Jago, Peap Tarr, and Meggs was one of my favorite pieces to come out of Pow Wow this year. Angry pandas, dragon snakes, flaming skulls, what else do you need?
