Rooftop Camping

For a lot of city-dwellers, some outdoor adventure time is hard to come by. So in celebration of Obscura Day, April 28th (it’s a real thing: a day to celebrate weird places) Bivouac New York will be hosting a workshop on “alternative living spaces” in Williamsburg, followed by a sleepover in some roof-top tents. Nice idea, we’ll see how it plays out in reality… Check out the event page for more details, and if you’re interested, sign up fast because there’s only room for 12!

Stop paying rent! Kevin Cyr creates traveling “alternative apartments” out of bikes, campers, and shopping carts. Good for the environment, your wallet, your wanderlust, and will certainly turn some heads along the way…

Best Made Co.

Best Made Co. is a store with a mission, and a name to live up to. They began their business creating beautiful hand-crafted axes to “inspire people to reconnect with their hands, craft, and nature.” After gaining recognition for their well-crafted product, they began to expand and are now selling cloth goods, and a wide range of products (including pure maple syrup!). Their HQ is in Soho on Broadway, and if you’re in the area, stop by and re-connect with your inner woodsman/woman.
